My name is Jane Harrison and I was born and educated in England. I have a BA in Geography and a PGCE, qualifying as a teacher in 1981. I taught for 3 years in England before beginning my international teaching career. Italy is the fifteenth country that I have worked in during my 40+ years of teaching. I am Primary trained and love teaching the PYP, which I have done almost continually since 2000. My teaching focus has been with students from 8 to 11 years of age. However, I have taught lower middle school students, maths, English, science, IT and geography. During my time in education I have completed a TEFL Diploma, and due to the nature of international teaching, I have completed the ‘ESL in the mainstream’ course twice. First in 2003 and a refresher in 2017. I am a Level 1 Google certified teacher, due to my interest in IT.
Outside school one of my passions is rugby (although playing days are well over), I attend many England International games and have been to matches in the last three Men’s World Cups. Also in October, I returned to the UK for a weekend to go to the Women’s World Cup final, which England won!! I am a keen traveller, camper and hiker, having climbed Kilimangaro (Tanzania), Adam’s Peak (Sri Lanka), Mount Kinabalu (Borneo), among others, as well as several hikes in Nepal, with Kala Pattar and Everest Base Camp being one of the most special. When I worked in Peru I also did many hikes in the Andes with the Huayhuash Circuit being the most challenging, and the Torres del Paine (Chile) being one of the most beautiful.
For more relaxed pursuits, I enjoy cooking, yoga, gardening in my garden in France and learning about new ideas in maths teaching.
