Erasmus+

Our Erasmus+ Projects

What is Erasmus+

Erasmus+ is the European Union’s programme dedicated to education, training, youth and sport. Through exchanges, mobility and partnerships between schools across different European countries, Erasmus+ promotes transnational cooperation, teaching innovation, and the development of an aware and inclusive European citizenship. For a school, taking part in an Erasmus+ project means opening up to dialogue with other educational realities across Europe, sharing best practices, and offering students and teachers alike opportunities for growth that go beyond national borders.

Viterbo International School is proud to have taken part, over the years, in several Erasmus+ projects, both as a partner and, in one case, as the coordinating school.

CLOSE — Inclusive Learning Environments and Social Emotional Learning through Cinema

www.close-erasmus.eu

The CLOSE project, funded by the European Commission under Erasmus+, addresses a highly relevant issue in today’s schools: discrimination and gender-based violence in educational settings, often rooted in stereotypes that are perpetuated, sometimes unconsciously, by the very adults responsible for children’s education.

The project’s goal is to support and train teachers in promoting inclusion, gender equality and non-discriminatory approaches, using a powerful and engaging tool: cinema. CLOSE provides guidelines and practical resources for using film as a gateway to more inclusive learning environments, thereby also helping to tackle school disadvantage and early school leaving linked to discrimination.

As part of the project, students created their own short films on the themes of violence and discrimination, working closely alongside their teachers. Viterbo International School had the honour of serving as the project’s coordinating school, working together with partners from Florence, Verona, France, Macedonia and Cyprus.

The Love of Reading

The Love of Reading is an Erasmus+ project born from a simple yet ambitious goal: to nurture in young people a genuine love of reading, bringing together schools from seven different countries — Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Spain, Romania and the Czech Republic.

Among the project’s most significant outcomes is the creation of a free, publicly accessible e-library, progressively enriched with a collection of English-language books alongside titles in the national languages of the partner countries. The project also gave rise to regular reading clubs for students, as well as a range of teaching materials built around the chosen books, such as crosswords, worksheets and interactive games.

Viterbo International School took an active part in this project, contributing students and teachers to transnational meetings and exchange activities with the other partner schools across Europe.
